Welcome to the memorial page for

Dianna Sue Bastin

January 1, 1958 ~ April 30, 2017 (age 59)
Dianna Sue (Rogers) Bastin, 59, of Ellettsville passed away at IU Health-Simon Cancer Center on Sunday, April 30, 2017.

Dianna was born into the home of the late Clark and Marilyn (Welch) Rogers in Muncie, Indiana on January 1, 1958. Dianna began her public service career as a Correctional Officer for Monroe County and then began volunteering with the Ellettsville Fire Department from 1987 to 2002 as the first female fire fighter to fight fires with the department. She worked with the Monroe County Dispatch Center for 17 years as a Public Safety Telecommunicator assisting the residents of Monroe County in their time of need. Dianna loved living in Ellettsville and its small-town charm. Wanting to make a difference in her community she ran for the Ellettsville Town Council and won the election in 2006 and served until her passing. She was a dedicated and caring public servant thinking of the community in every decision she made. Her appreciation to the employees of the Town of Ellettsville was shown every June when she orchestrated the employee appreciation luncheon. Dianna took great pride in her home; tending to her flower gardens. She loved to travel, especially a trip to Europe with her close friends. Her Yorkies, Sophie, Ty, and Mimi were affectionately known as her "babies" and she loved them dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.

Dianna is survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Burton (Jim) of Bloomfield; brother, Cort Rogers of Muncie; nephew, Chris Burton and niece, Heather Burton all of Bloomfield; aunt, Patsy Smith (Jim) of Muncie; uncle, Bill Welch (Becky) of Gosport; close friend, Angie Leach of Ellettsville; her "Babies" Ty and Mimi; and several cousins.
