Barbara Ann Smith, a long-time resident of Ellettsville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital due to complications from pneumonia.

Barbara was born in 1927, in Stinesville, Indiana to William and Eva (Stines) Gillaspy. She was a very loving and giving lady and had an unwavering faith in God.  She was a caring daughter taking care of her parents in their elder years and helping any friend or family member in need.  Barbara enjoyed reading her bible, watching I.U. Basketball and spending time with her sons, extended family and grandchildren, all who brought great joy to her later years. She had a passion for flowers where she spent many hours tending to her beautiful garden.

She is survived by her sister, Wanda Mays; her sons, Kruth Blaine Smith of Ellettsville, Mendel Gates Smith, (Shelly) of Zionsville and Tylin Juan Smith (Marlene Downer) of Naples, FL; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Gillaspy and mother, Eva Gillaspy; brother, Edward Gillaspy and her son, Naaman Bryan Smith (Cheryl Smith).

The family gives everyone at I.U. Health Bloomington who cared for Barbara their greatest gratitude.
