Carmeta Jackson, 105, passed away peacefully at home on February 12, 2019. She was born in Kimberley, Ontario, in the Beaver Valley. She was the oldest child of Charles and Mae Camack.
After finishing Business School in Owen Sound, ON, she moved to Newmarket, ON where she met her husband, Ken Bennington. Their very happy marriage was blessed with two children, Dale Wilkens (Patrick), of Bloomington, IN and Murray Bennington (Viv) of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She had 5 grandsons, Tim Calabrese (Lauren) of Hurst, TX, Ken Calabrese of Bloomington, In, Jon Calabrese (Chel) of Southlake, TX, Ben Calabrese (Sara) of Bloomington, In ,and Mike Bennington (Wendy) of Loveland, CO.
There are 9 great grandchildren – Caleb Calabrese, Cameron Calabrese, Daniel Calabrese, Dawson Calabrese, Caralyn Calabrese, Christopher Calabrese, Marissa Calabrese, Nicolas Calabrese, Jonah Calabrese, Wesley Bennington and Makayla Bennington. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. She loved her family and spent many enjoyable times with them. We will all miss her greatly.
Carmeta was a talented seamstress who made all her children’s clothes when they were young. She loved to read, play the piano, and spend time with her family and her pets. She adored her dogs and cats and felt they were part of her family. She was a charter member of the Fox Point Federated Garden Club in Fox Point, WI. She loved to garden, especially flowers. She enjoyed painting watercolors, especially of flowers and entered a painting in the County Fair every year after she moved to Bloomington to be closer to her family. She liked to fish and spent numerous hours with her grandchildren doing just that. She was a member of the Mequon Community Methodist Church for many years.
Several years after her husband, Ken, passed away at the young age of 45, she married Harley Jackson of Shorewood, WI. Harley already had 3 children, RH, Joyce, and Bill Jackson so the family grew larger. Together, Carmeta and Harley presided over a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They enjoyed searching for antiques, traveling and enjoyed spending time at their lake cottage in Door County, WI.
Carmeta was predeceased by her husbands, Ken Bennington and Harley Jackson, her parents, Charles and Mae Camack, her sister, Retis Hasenpflug, her brother, Ivan Camack, and her daughter, Joyce O’Brian.
A private family service was held in February.
