Daniel B. Rogers, 79 of Ellettsville passed away at his home on Thursday, October 3, 2019.
He was born in Hazelton, Indiana on October 16, 1939 into the home of Barthol and Miriam (Price) Rogers. He married Mava (Gourley) Rogers on June 23, 1957 and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. Dan proudly served in the United States Army as a Major retiring after 42 years of service. He worked in public relations for Smithville Telephone Company before finally retiring. Dan was a member of the Ellettsville Masonic Lodge #45, the Bloomington VFW Post #604 and the American Legion Burton Woolery Post #18. He and Mava enjoyed attending his Army reunions. Dan, being a patriotic American, would cite the Pledge of Allegiance every morning on his Facebook page and at home. He and Mava worshiped at the Ellettsville First United Methodist Church.
Dan is survived by his Wife Mava Rogers of Ellettsville; Son, Daniel (Gina) Rogers, II of Greene County; Daughters, Dana E. Dillon of Bloomington, and Tammara J. (Michael) Graves of Bloomington; Grandchildren, Jacob (Autumn) Henderson, Andrew (Emily) Pennington, Matthew Dillon, Kevin Pate, Billy Elliot, Josh (Leah) Graves, Christopher Graves, Brandon (Curtis) Graves, Katlyn (David) Arthur; Great-Grandchildren, Chelsea Pate, McKenna Henderson, Winona Dillon Robertson, Brynlee Graves, Bristol Graves, Chrysler Reel, Jema Graves, and Cora Arthur and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Lois Rogers; Father, Barthol Rogers; and Sisters, Linda Reed and Sue Swope.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville. The Monroe County Honor Guard will be providing military honors on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and the Ellettsville Masonic Lodge will hold at Masonic Service at 7:15 p.m. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with cremation arrangements.
