Donald “Donnie” E. Day of Bloomington passed away at his residence in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 23, 2019. He was 84.
Donnie was the son of the late Charles and Lavina (Smith) Day born in Seymour, Indiana on May 24, 1934. Donnie was a proud member of the United States Army serving in the Korean War from 1956 to 1962. While in his military service he married the love of his life, Carolyn (Siscoe) Day on March 27, 1959. He retired from RCA after forty-three years. Donnie was very mechanical and could be found working on cars and other equipment in his garage. His favorite piece of equipment was his Wheel Horse Tractor. Donnie was great at talking, sharing stories and telling jokes, he never knew a stranger.
Donnie leaves behind his wife, Carolyn Day; daughter, Pam Brown of Hunt Valley, MD; sons, Tim Day of Spencer and Kevin Day of Ellettsville; “like a son”, Mike Stalcup of Ellettsville; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother.
Visitation for Donnie will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with funeral services at 5:00 p.m. The Monroe County Honor Guard will provide Military Honors at the funeral home.
