Floyd R. “Slim” Clayton of Bloomington passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at IU Health Bloomington Hospice House. He was 93.
Slim was born in Newark, Indiana on March 22, 1925 into the home of the late Charles and Nola (Harrington) Clayton. He was happily married to Vada (Helms) Clayton for more than 43 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving as a radioman. Slim retired after working 43 years as a meat cutter at Frosted Foods in Bloomington. He loved trading and was an avid gun collector. Slim was of the Christian Faith.
Slim is survived by his loving wife, Vada Clayton; children, Danny Ray Clayton, Sharon Kay Clayton, Robert Clayton, Jerry Clayton; nine grandchildren; step-children, Sherry McDaniel Hollars, Sue McDaniel, Cathy McDaniel Hudson and four step-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 2nd at City Church, 1200 Russell Rd, Bloomington at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Kim Norris and David Norris officiating. The Monroe County Honor Guard will provide Military Honors. Visiting with the family will be at the church from 1:00 p.m. until time of services. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with cremation arrangements.
