Helen “Jean” (Gump) Baker of Bloomington, Indiana, formerly of Fletcher, Ohio passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Garden Villa Health Care Center. She was 89.
Jean was born in Fletcher, Ohio on April 15, 1929 into the home of Wilber and Ethel (Umholts) Gump. She married Harold Baker, Jr. and they celebrated over 38 years together until his passing in 1988. Jean worked as a secretary for a few companies before retiring. She was interested in Genealogy and hoped to write a book with her family history that she compiled over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Ruth Lamka, Treva Collins, Jeannie Niswonger, Dorothy Ashman, Betty Phillis, and infant sister, Martha Gump.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Susan Miller and husband, Ted of Ellettsville, Indiana; son, Mark Baker of Troy, Ohio; grandchildren, Megan Newton (Josh) and Tiffany Miller all of Bloomington, Indiana; Ryan Baker and Jason Baker all of Troy, Ohio and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Fletcher Cemetery on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville, Indiana is assisting with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
