Imogene F. Porter, age 87, of Whitehall passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December. 8, 2018.
Born November 1, 1931 in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Oral & Kathryn Dunning. She graduated from Ellettsville High School with the class of 1951. She lived with a very strong love of her family. She walked faithfully with God and was a member of Maple Grove Christian Church for more than 45 years. She enjoyed working puzzles, taking her daily walks, and her monthly lunch get together with her lifelong friends. Imogene worked at Sarkes Tarzian, RCA, and retired from K-Mart East after over 30 years.
Imogene is survived by her daughter, Denise Bitner; son, Ernest Porter (Renee Harrell Smith); five granddaughters, Amanda Bitner, Tiffani Porter, Taylor Porter, Brianne Bitner, and Tanner Porter; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Bitner and Hartlyn Bitner.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Odell Porter, and two brothers, Harry Dunning and Earl Dunning.
There will be a memorial gathering of family and friends at Chandler Funeral Home for visitation on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial is to follow at Presbyterian Cemetery.
