Jeanette Bacon, 81, of Spencer, formerly of Gosport, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Owen Valley Health Campus after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Jeanette was born on October 24, 1934 in DeRossett, Tennessee, the daughter of Dallas and Ida (Rice) Cooley. She married Bud Bacon on December 25, 1954 in Cloverdale, Indiana.
Jeanette was a member of the Gosport Christian Church and loved her church family. She worked at the Gosport Nursing Home for many years and was mainly a homemaker. Jeanette’s biggest joy was to spend time with her family and cook whatever meal they requested. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her three grandchildren and they adored her.
Jeanette is survived by her devoted husband, Bud; daughters, Nancy (Gary) Woodsmall of Spencer, Mary Ann Bentley of Spencer, and Tammy Bacon of Spencer. She has three grandchildren who were her pride and joy; Ryan (Karen) White of Spencer, Matthew Bentley of Spencer, and Kelsey Bentley (Jay) of Spencer. Along with her three grandchildren, she had three great-grandchildren; Kaden and Kysen White and Lyden Hoversten, all of Spencer. She is also survived by two sisters, Martha Kinser of Edinburgh, Indiana and Kathy Smith of Greenwood; one brother, Tom Cooley of Crossville, Tennessee; three nephews, Keith Cooley, Brian Cooley, and Brad Cooley; three nieces, Coretha Fulton, Denise Bradley, and Brenda Hasselburg; and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Bobby Cooley.
Funeral service will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Gosport Christian Church. Rick Fulton will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow at Gosport Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home-Whitaker Chapel in Gosport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
