John E. Harder, 87, of Bloomington passed away on Friday, March 23. He was born on December 8, 1930, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the son of Edwin L. and Esther Harder. He was married to Marilyn for 59 years.
He is a 1952 graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology, with continuing studies at the University of Pittsburgh and Indiana University. He worked at Westinghouse and ABB as a design and advisory engineer, applications and independent consultant. He was the newsletter editor for the local Westinghouse / ABB Veterans & Friends group, and membership coordinator for Friends of McCormick's Creek State Park. He was a long-time member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Bloomington.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Anita, Susan, and Jean; brothers, Tom Harder and wife Carolyn, Bill Harder and wife Rita; and Arlene Harder (widow of John's brother Bob).
Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with arrangements. John requested that there be no funeral or memorial service.
