Katie N. (Stinson) Shrum

October 4, 1933 ~ April 17, 2019 (age 85)

Katie N. Shrum of Gosport passed away at the age of 85 surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 17, 2019.

Katie was born in Allen County, Kentucky on October 4, 1933.  She was one of 11 children born to the late Fred and Harriett (Hicks) Stinson.  She was married to James Howard Shrum on May 23, 1953 and they began their life together.  Katie was a cook for the RBBCSC at Stinesville Elementary, moving to Edgewood Junior High until her retirement.  Katie loved God and celebrated as a member of the Spencer Church of Christ.  She was also a member of the Gosport Whirligigs.  Katie enjoyed sewing, crochet, gardening, solving puzzles, reading and she absolutely loved shopping.  Her family meant everything to her and she loved them all dearly.

Katie is survived by her sons; Gennie Fred Shrum (Barbara) of Worthington, Garry Nolan Shrum (Lynn) of Ellettsville, Jerry Neil Shrum (Cora Lee), James Ivan Shrum (Tracy Lee) all of Gosport, Keith Howard Shrum (Mary) of Spencer, and Wendell Lee Shrum (Mitzy) of Gosport.  She was a loving grandmother to her fifteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.  Katie is also survived by her siblings, Betty Matlock of Bowling Green, KY and Joe Stinson of Scottsville, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James and siblings, Max, Ruby, Jewel, Clorene, Lorene, Hellon, Anna, Cara Faye, and great-grandchild, Jayden.

Visitation will be held at Chandler Funeral Home-Whitaker Chapel in Gosport on Friday, April 19, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00.  Funeral services will be at the Spencer Church of Christ, 702 East Morgan Street, Spencer, IN on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Brother Gary Fiscus officiating.  Burial is to follow at Chambersville Cemetery.
