February 3, 1947 ~ July 7, 2018 (age 71)

Under a cloudless sky and with a brilliant sun blazing overhead, Linda (Thompson) Bikoff passed away July 7, 2018, at IU Hospice House in Bloomington following a long battle with cancer.

She was 71.

Born February 3, 1947, in Gary, Indiana, Linda grew up playing with her friends and family in the idyllic neighborhoods of the 1950s. She attended St. Casmir Catholic School in Gary, and she graduated from Andrean High School in Merrillville in 1965. As a student at Andrean, she met Norman Bikoff, and the two became inseparable.

They married July 15, 1967, and the young couple lived in Norfolk, Virginia, while Norman served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. In early 1970, they welcomed a daughter, Kimberly, and nearly four years later, in late 1973, they welcomed a son, Kenneth. The family would live in the same house in Merrillville for more than a quarter century.

Besides being a loving wife and mother, Linda worked as a clerk/purchasing secretary first at Hammond Draperies and later at Roselind Draperies before retiring in 2006 when she moved with Norman to Camby, Indiana. She later took a part-time job as a receptionist at Meadow Lakes Healthcare, a retirement community in Mooresville, Indiana.

She spent her last days close to family in Bell Trace Retirement Community in Bloomington.

She was preceeded in death by Norman, her husband of 50 years; her mother, Albina, and father, Monroe; and her grandson, Alexander. She is survived by her brother Richard Thompson; her daughter, Kim (Lehr), and her son-in-law, Jim Lehr; her son, Ken, and daughter-in-law Lauren (Paetsch); and her grandchildren, Nick and Charlie Bikoff.
