Margaret Ellen Ellett, age 87, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 in Millsboro, Delaware.  She was born February 7, 1932, the daughter of John and E. Louise Meadows Ritter of Bloomington.

After graduating from Bloomington High School, she was employed at the Bloomington Hospital.  When Dr. James Schaeffer began his pediatric practice here, she became his office manager for over twenty years.  She also worked at the local water department.  Margaret was a member of the Arlington Methodist Church.

She married Bob C. Ellett in 1949 and he preceded her in death in 2012.

Family members surviving include her children, Kathy Temple of Millsboro, DE and Samuel C. Ellett, of Columbus, OH.  Grandchildren are Karis Cavender of Alexandria, VA, Samuel Ellett, Jr. and Jacqueline Ellett, and Allison Briggs all of Boston, MA, and Matthew Briggs of Lexington, KY; three great-granddaughters, Samantha Briggs, Natalie and Katherine Cavender; daughter-in-law, Beatrice Ellett; grandson-in-law, Joseph Cavender; sister, Anna R. Floyd of Ellettsville; nephews John Floyd of GA and Jay Floyd of Bloomington; several other nieces and nephews and her special friend, Elizabeth Rinker.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Michael Douglas officiating.  Private burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens.  

The Ellett family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please consider memorial gifts in Margaret’s honor be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of one’s choice.
