Marjorie "Marge" Ruth Terpenning, loving wife, mother and grandmother, of Bloomington passed away at her Residence on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the age of 87.
Marge was born in Harpersville, New York on June 20, 1932 into the home of Faye Brooks and Ruth (Decker) Braley. She married Carl Terpenning and they have spent over 68 years in marriage. Marge and Carl worked together as owners of the Western Skateland and Classic Bowling Lanes in Bloomington giving many area locals and visitors fun evenings out with family and friends until January of this year. Prior to the skateland and bowling lanes they operated the marinas at Cutright, Moores Creek and Fairfax when Lake Monroe first was opened. She worshipped at the Calvary Baptist Church where she became a member in 1988. She and Carl both held pilots licenses and she was the first woman in Shelbyville to have earned that license.
Marge is survived by her Husband, Carl Terpenning; Children, Dale (Debbie) Terpenning of Ellettsville, Elaine (Larry) Baker of Bloomington, and Nancy LaGarde of Bloomington; Grandchildren, Brenna (Bryan Kern) Terpenning, Megan (Phil) Barlow, Dan Morris, Scott LaGarde, Jessica (Matt) Cababie, Renee (Bryan) Hixson, Bill (Stephanie) Baxter, Joshua (Kimberly) Baxter and Ruth (Jon) Barnes; Nieces, Jennifer and Susan and Nephew, Brad; and Twenty Three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Ruth Braley; Father, Faye Brooks; Daughter, Carol Baxter; Grandson, B.J. LaGarde and Brother, Walter Brooks;
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville with Pastor Jim Barr officiating. Entombment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm and again one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
