Mary Elizabeth Douglas

March 10, 1937 ~ June 28, 2019 (age 82)

Mary Elizabeth Douglas, 82, of Gosport passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at Bloomington Hospital following a short illness.

She was born March 10, 1937 in Bloomington, the daughter of Dewey Dennis and Naomi (Burton) Douglas. She graduated in 1955 from Gosport High School an she attended Indiana Central College. After college she worked at Sarkas Tarzian, RCA, Gosport Nursing Home and finally retiring from Gosport Manufacturing. She was a 71 year member of the Gosport United Methodist Church and was a 62 year member of Ivanhoe Chapter 151, Order of the Eastern Star. The family wishes to give special thanks to all the Doctors and nurses of the Critical Care West Unit for their loving care of Mary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven Scott Douglas; brother, Robert Gordon Douglas; nephew, Robert Burton Douglas; and her husband, Dan Lee Schoolcraft, Sr.

Mary is survived by her son, Dan Lee Schoolcraft, Jr. of Gosport; sister, Martha Douglas of Gosport; niece, Beth (Freddy) Lishou of Whitestown; sister-in-law, Anita J. Douglas of Bloomington and her beloved dog, Delilah.

Visitation will be held at Chandler Funeral Home-Whitaker Chapel in Gosport on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dwight Wood officiating.
