Mary Alice Thomas of Bloomington joined her family in Heaven on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the age of 72.
Born in West Baden, Indiana on May 14, 1946, she was the daughter of Elmer C. and Lilly Mae Cain. Mary retired from Cook Inc as a custodian, but she started her career at Leonard’s Linens and moved on to Bloomington Hospital and Bloomington Convalescent Center. Mary’s family meant everything to her. Visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her immense joy. She enjoyed listening to music and dancing. Mary was always ready to help anyone that needed it. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Mary is survived by her children, Monty Thomas and wife Bessie of Bloomington, Tina Frye and husband Jim of Ellettsville, and Kimberly Smith and husband Joey of Bloomington; grandchildren, Melissa Thomas, Nikki Thomas, Tony Ray Thacher, Monty E. Thomas, Steven M. Thomas, D.J. Smith, Dekota J. Collins, Amanda Thomas, Christina Frye, and J.D. Frye; twenty-two great grandchildren; sister, Kay Pfaff of Whitehall and her faithful companion Tibby, the chihuahua.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Edward Thomas; granddaughter, Jessica Renee Frye; sister, Nola Thomas; and brothers, Jr. Cain, Ray Cain, and Jack Cain.
Visitation will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery.
