Nelson B. Terrell of Ellettsville went home to the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at IU Health-Bloomington Hospital. He was 71.
Nelson was born into the home of Paul E. and Marie (Petmeky) Terrell in Bloomington on April 25, 1946. He was the owner of A-1 Quality Auto and Body with his specialty being in auto body painting where he helped many people repair cars for over 30 years. He also worked at Indiana University in the facilities maintenance department. Nelson’s true passion was music, forming the New Terrain Blue Grass Band playing for family, friends and the community for many years. He enjoyed teaching at the Endwright Center in Ellettsville where his students, with arthritis, learned how to continue to play guitar chords. His love of family and of God were second to none and he worshiped at the Maple Grove Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Terrell and infant sister, Donna Terrell.
Nelson is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joyce (Knight) Terrell; sons, Doug Terrell and wife Kim of Newark, IN, Brian Terrell and wife Lori of Ellettsville, and David Terrell (Tina) of Sellersburg; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jordan, Jacob (Morgan), Luke, Josh, Emily, and Adam; great-grandchildren, Mason and Addy; siblings, Judy Day, Larry Terrell, Tony Terrell, and Pammy Peek; sister-in-law, Linda Carter; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Daisy and Andy.
Funeral services will be at Chandler Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Amerine officiating. Burial is to follow at Chambersville Cemetery. Friends may call upon the family at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.
