Steve Randolf Ellis, 68, of Bloomington passed away at IU Health University Hospital on Thursday, January 4, 2018.
Steve was born to James Mitchum Ellis and Edna Louise (Harris) Ellis. Steve was raised by his paternal grandparents Felix and Daisy Ellis on the family farm in Solsberry. Steve graduated from Eastern High School in 1968. He was a retired union sheet metal journeyman. Steve and his wife Barbara attended Johnson Bible College in Tennessee where he earned a degree in Theological Studies. He loved being outdoors and in nature. He hiked the Appalachian Trial in 2014, which was a great accomplishment. Steve loved to visit with family and friends and tell stories. He loved the Lord and was of the Methodist Faith. He enjoyed studying the Bible and discussing with friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents, sister, Melissa Louise Ellis and his beloved wife Barbara.
Survivors include his Aunt and Uncle, Melissa and Donnie Pardue; cousins, Henry Ellis II (Jill), Kim Shannon Stearns (Issac), Stacy Bruce (Michael), Tracy Chandler; and Debra Ellis; and life long friend and supporter, Russell Spicer (Trish).
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Solsberry United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rob Martindale officiating. Inurnment is to be at Solsberry Cemetery. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with cremation arrangements.
