William “Bill” George Butler, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the IU Health Bloomington Hospice House. He was 61.
Bill was the son of William Devere Butler and Patricia Jane (King) Butler born in San Francisco, CA on May 9, 1958. He was married to Betty (Atkins) Butler on April 18, 1998. Motorcycles were Bill’s passion and he was always working on them and riding. He was a member of the Southern Cruisers Chapter 644. Bill volunteered at the Pantry 279 in Ellettsville, loving all his extended family there and helping many people in the community through the pantry. His dogs and cats were also part of his family and he enjoyed having them with him. For the last 20 years when school was in session he would sit outside to make sure the neighborhood kids were safe at the the bust stop. His love of his family had no bounds and he will be missed by everyone that knew him.
Bill is survived by his wife, Betty; children, Patrick Butler, Abigail Butler, Travis Atkins and Chad Atkins; sister, Kathy Diagrault; brother, Michael Butler; grandchild, Kenneth Michael Koeling; brothers-in-law, Michael Atkins and Bill (Sue) Atkins; sister-in-law, Ruth (Bobby) Cantrell; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and Anna Sexton and Tonya Dugan whom he considered his adopted daughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Maureen Werhl and Theresa Butler.
Graveside Services will be held at Chambersville Cemetery on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Alan Scott conducting the service. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery.
