Rodney Floyd Hillenburg of Bloomington passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Garden Villa Health Care Center. He was 76.
Rodney was born in Monroe County into the home of Joseph and Myrtle A. (Pedro) Hillenburg on March 17, 1941. He was a truck driver for the State Highway Garage and worked at a stone mill. In Rodney's later years he was a handyman. He was a member of the 11th Street Pentecostal Church. Rodney was an outdoors man enjoying hunting and fishing but most of all loved to hunt mushrooms. His grandchildren were his world. Rodney was a gentle, caring man who was loved by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gerald, Cletus, Joseph, and Jason.
Rodney is survived by his son, Joe Hillenburg and his fiance, Danielle Friend of Springville; grandsons, Andrew and Ethan Hillenburg; sister-in-law, Phyllis Hillenburg and nephew, Jason Hillenburg.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the 11th Street Pentecostal Church in Bloomington with Pastor Michael Douglas officiating. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with the cremation arrangements.
