James “Jim” A. Arnett of Stinesville, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 11, 2018. He was 84.
Jim was born in Edinburgh, IN on August 20, 1933, the son of Fred and Mary (Land) Arnett. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed at various stone quarries in Monroe and Lawrence Counties for over forty years retiring with Reed Stone. Jim enjoyed hunting, hunting mushrooms, NASCAR, and riding to Walmart and the dollar stores. He was an avid IU Basketball fan. One of his favorite activities was sitting on his porch enjoying the company of friends, family and nature. He was a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather whose love for his family showed no bounds. His grandchildren were his life and he thoroughly enjoyed all the time he could spend with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred Arnett; and sister, Sharon Martin.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Judy (Payton) Arnett; children, Brad (Julie) Arnett, Brian Arnett, Mike (Tina) Arnett; Julie Hunter, Cheryl Summitt (Travis Abram) and Kelly Ferguson; grandchildren, Dustin Hillenburg, Jessica (Travis) Hodge, Kristina (Mike) Wampler, Joe (Nicole) Arnett, Josh Hunter, Brandon (Casey) Arnett, Tiffanie (Mathew) Pope, Trenton (Amy) Summitt, Ashley (Brad) Arthur, Kyle Arnett, Justin (Jessica) Ferguson, and Jarrod Ferguson; thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lynn (Madi) Arnett, Ron (Ellen) Arnett; and Bill (Nancy) West; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Stinesville Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Ben Muncie officiating. Viewing will be at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with cremation services.
