Robert “Bob” T. Grubb, 94 passed away peacefully at Hearthstone Health Campus on Sunday, May 6, 2018 to be with Betty, his lifelong love who passed away earlier this year.
Bob was born on September 11, 1923 to Ray and Cora Grubb of Ellettsville. He attended Ellettsville School where he met and later married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Stines, in 1944. Bob was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Coast Guard as a motor machinist. After the war, Bob had several different jobs from working at the Bloomington Post Office to General Electric, but his favorites were being the Curtiss Candy Man and working with Betty at the Frozen Custard stand in the 1960’s. Bob and Betty loved to travel all their lives with their 28-day Alaska tour being their favorite trip. They also loved to buy and sell antiques and set up at shows across the mid-west. Bob and Betty were life long members of the Ellettsville Christian Church.
Bob is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty; his parents, and brother, Hubert Grubb.
Bob is survived by his two daughters, Sandra Sanders and Diana (Roger) Somes; three grandsons, Jeff Sanders, Eric (Jennifer) Somes, and Evan Somes; two great-grandsons, Noah and Drew Somes; his sister, Delores Brown and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of both Hearthstone Health Campus and Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care and patience.
Visitation will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Baker will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the Monroe County Honor Guard during committal at Chambersville Cemetery following the services.
