Robert “Robbie” Norris, 67, of Ellettsville passed away after a brave battle with cancer at his residence on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 with his family by his side.
Born in Bloomington on September 16, 1951 he was one of eight children born to Richard and Catherine (Johnson) Norris. Robbie owned and operated Robbie’s Painting and also worked with Facility Maintenance at Indiana University as a painter. He married Carole (Whitesell) Norris on May 26, 1990 and began a 29-year loving relationship. He loved to play cards, go camping and watch collegiate and professional basketball and football. Robbie would help anyone in need and if he didn’t have it, he would go find it for them. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and all his extended family.
Robbie is survived by his wife, Carole Norris; sons, Lil Rob Norris and Michael Darrin Norris both of Bloomington; daughter, Jenny King of Ellettsville; grandchildren, Amare Norris, Corey Norris, Amaya Norris, Samantha Norris, Ava King, and Arrian Norris; godson, Torrell Holt; sisters, Bonnie Bing and Cathy Norris-Averitte (Dale); brother, Ralph Norris; several nieces and nephews and many friends whom he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Aggie Jackson, Zelma Norris, Richard Norris, Jr., and Randy Norris.
Visitation will be held at Chandler Funeral Home on Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington.
